When Nando’s South Africa celebrated their 30th birthdayin 2017, they asked us to bring their customer promotion to life.
Every day between 1 August and 31 October 2017, they gave away 100 limited edition SMEG fridges and coolers to three winners. All that was needed was to buy any Nando’s meal item with a 330/500ml Coke to stand a chance to win.
We turned to talented artist and designer, Nolo Chepape, andgot her to work on vibrant, contemporary Afrokletic designs that we could apply onto the fridges and coolers. Each item became an individual workof art.
She took inspiration from Portuguese design embellishments and African woven baskets. In the process, she created a visual celebration of life, colour and the interconnectivity of lines.
Supporting the SMEG design and promoting the competition were a range of point-of-sale, social media components and internal communications. Each element seamlessly incorporated Nolo’s design with Nando’s unique tone of voice to create a highly successful and memorable campaign.
